What the position entails:

1. Taking full responsibility for a list of clients, including building long term client relationships
2. Preparation and submission of SARS statutory returns eg EMP 201s and EMP 501s, VAT returns, DWT forms
3. Calculation of dividends for business entities
5. Preparation of annual financial statements for business entities and trusts (accounting officer engagements and compilation engagements)
6. Completion of simple to intermediate income tax computations for individuals, trusts and business entities
7. Provisional tax calculations for individuals, trusts and business entities
8. Willingness to work overtime when required in order to meet deadlines


Skills and competencies required:

1. A 3 year degree or diploma plus relevant experience or Matric with Accounting and relevant experience
2. Planning and organizing
3. Lateral thinker
4. Proven accuracy and attention to detail
5. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
6. Adaptable and flexible
7. Knowledge of Excel and Word
8. Must have proven ability to prepare simple to intermediate tax computations for individuals and various business entities and trusts
9. Proven analytical and problem solving skills
10. Can work within budgets
11. Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, dealing with partners, managers, staff, clients and investment houses etc.
12. Must be able to follow administrative procedures and enjoy dealing with various forms of documentation
13. Having worked in an accounting firm would be an advantage
14. Knowledge of Auditmate software and Greatsoft would be an advantage
15. Knowledge of Pastel and Quickbooks would be an advantage

The right individual will find themselves mentored into our professional Financial Planning Team, who are tasked with partnering with clients who are seeking the Group’s expertise.

We are currently looking for a Junior Tax Consultant to join their accounting and tax team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling the tax aspects of deceased estates.

Key activities:

1. Taking full responsibility for a list of tax clients and monitor the flow of work to meet the various deadlines
2. Obtaining information from the estates team
3. Preparation of detailed tax computations for deceased clients
4. Preparation of tax returns on specialised tax software
5. Collating supporting documentation and submitting on e-filing
6. Registration of deceased taxpayers with SARS, setting up virtual appointments with SARS, updating bank details and registering post death for deceases estates
7. Attending to various SARS queries
9. Willingness to work overtime when required in order to meet deadlines is essential

Qualification required:

1. A diploma in Tax, or Matric with core Maths and relevant experience
2. Knowledge of the Tax Administration Act and the Income Tax Act will be an advantage
