Join the Harvard House team as a Supervisor in the Accounting and Tax Department. If you are passionate about tax and accounting and want to grow your career in a supportive and people-focused environment, this role offers the chance to make an impact while developing your technical and leaderships skills.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

  1. Leading, developing and mentoring staff
  2. Allocating clients, managing workflow and ensuring deadlines are met
  3. Monitoring and updating internal control lists
  4. Providing hands-on technical guidance and training
  5. Conducting performance reviews with staff
  6. Attending to various staff and client queries. This may include researching technical topics and presenting practical solutions
  7. Managing SARS queries including visits to SARS when required
  8. Building and maintaining strong client relationships, including attending client meetings
  9. On-boarding new clients and completing related admin

Reviewing:

  1. Monthly VAT submissions
  2. Annual financial statements (trusts, CCs, companies, and independent reviews)
  3. Individual and corporate tax returns
  4. Working overtime during peak periods

What We’re Looking For:

  1. B Com Accounting Degree with articles or B Com Accounting Degree with relevant experience or newly qualified CA(SA), or eligible to register as a CA(SA)
  2. Strong proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel and Word
  3. Strong digital proficiency and the ability to quickly adapt to new software tools
  4. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and tax regulations
  5. Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic and constantly changing environment
  6. Strong planning and organisational skills
  7. Focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  8. Ability to manage pressure and meet deadlines
  9. Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills

Job Description:

  1. To establish and maintain long term relationships with clients providing comprehensive financial solutions according to client needs.
  2. Build and manage a book of both existing and referred clients.
  3. Perform annual reviews and handle client queries.
  4. Analyze financial information obtained from clients to determine strategies for meeting clients financial objectives.
  5. Prepare Investment Proposals, meet with prospective clients and present a financial plan.
  6. Perform all necessary administrative duties associated with the above.
  7. Continuously broaden your knowledge base and to keep up to date technically by researching current trends.
  8. Be part of a team dynamic that strives for excellent customer service, sound and practical advice.
  9. Grow economic, financial, legal, technical and tax knowledge to assess and advise portfolio clients on a broad range of financial issues and solutions.
  10. Be prepared to study further such as completing the required Regulatory Exam (RE) 5, Certified Financial Planner (CFP) under-graduate Diploma in Financial Planning.

Requirements:

  1. An undergraduate Degree, preferably with a Financial bias.
  2. Financial acumen.
  3. Good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.
  4. Good people skills, attention to detail and good time management abilities.
  5. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
