Harvard House is looking for a financially astute graduate to assist the portfolio management team with JSE and offshore stock exchange share trade execution, reporting and administration as well as to source and update data for the analyst team, and develop a knowledge and capability for company and economic analytical work.

Responsibilities

Familiarize with all Harvard House trading platforms.
Liaise with portfolio management team for daily trade execution.
Timeous execution of trades on client portfolios.
Abide by Harvard House personal trading accounting guidelines.
Daily reconciliation to minimize mistakes / misdeals.
End of day reporting to relevant parties (internal and external) and associated administration.
Report on consolidated trades concluded weekly across all portfolios.
Source and update data for analyst team.
Assist portfolio management team with internal data analysis to identify variances from house view.

Under supervision / guidance from senior member of the team:
Create and maintain the following reports / files on those companies to which you have been allocated, with the aim of stimulating investment ideas and debate:
-Scorecard,
-Divisional analysis
-Factsheet
Saving / filing reports for reference.
Report back on news events etc.
Create and maintain reports / files on selected global and local economic trends, with the aim of stimulating understanding and debate about the macro environment.

Assist with:
Preparing (not necessarily delivering) presentations (Powerpoint or otherwise) to inform clients through Insight investment seminars.
Where appropriate, take part in other media engagements advancing the Harvard house brand and investment philosophy.

Requirements

Finance-orientated Degree/ Diploma (B.Com, Econ, Finance) or equivalent qualification. B.Com with finance/investment orientation.
Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook
Attention to detail and good time management skills
Research and analytical skills
A hunger to learn and grow professionally
Team player

Harvard House is looking for a Junior Tax Consultant to join their accounting and tax team.

Key activities:

Taking full responsibility for a list of tax clients (alive and deceased) and monitor the flow of work to meet the various deadlines.
Obtaining tax information from clients.
Preparation of detailed tax computations for clients.
Preparation of tax returns on specialised tax software
Collating supporting documentation and submitting on SARS e-filing
Attending to various client and SARS queries
Willingness to work overtime when required in order to meet deadlines is essential

Requirements

Diploma in Tax, or a Matric with core Maths.
Knowledge of the Tax Administration Act and the Income Tax Act will be an advantage.
