Mark Wheatley, a Business Management graduate from Damelin College, completed his initial two year national service with the SA Defense Force immediately after high school where he received rank status. He has over 30 years’ experience in the life and short term insurance industry, covering numerous roles across client servicing and broking of insurance risk products, to providing financial advice. This includes working for the life insurance group, Metropolitan, where he spearheaded the Pietermaritzburg regional office for a ten year tenure. In 2003 he joined and headed the Multifin insurance brokerage, serving both the private and commercial sectors. Multifin was merged with the Harvard House Group in March 2013 and Harvard House Insurance Brokers was born. In this role Mark is responsible for delivering competitive insurance solutions to clients. Mark has substantial experience handling a variety of risks and is often defined by his clients as being able to provide information simply, allowing for a greater understanding of insurance products and how the cover really works. He strives to ensure clients understand the real value of their short term products and says that this is often made clear when the client has a claim and they experience first-hand the true worth of protecting their assets through an insurance policy. As a multi-focussed sports enthusiast, Mark has completed a host of Comrades Marathons, Two Oceans Ultras, Argus and Amashovashova Cycle Tours, numerous mountain bike races, and short circuit Kart racing, amongst many other pursuits. He states that his goal in life is “to always be open and receptive to new experiences and never stop being willing to learn.” Mark lives in Pietermaritzburg with his partner, Gail, a willing pillion passenger of adventure motor biking who shares his love for exploring and travel to new places. He has two children and four grandchildren.
